Southern Pacific Motor Car #57, built in 1911 as a 70′, 30 ton, 62 passenger motor car that was scrapped in January of 1934. This car was modified heavily when this photo was taken, so I believe it was taken between 1918 and 1934. One thing to notice, upon a closer look, is that there is a dog sitting on the sandbox in the cab. Some historians joke that no black and white photograph is complete with out a dog, this is clearly an odd example of that.
